Chapter eleven is a pretty simple one and unlike the constant corridors the previous ones have been, this area’s pretty sprawling.

Though you may’t go too far, there are a lot of collectibles tucked away in the various buildings and corners of the map that can be easily overlooked. There’s also no boss fight this time, it’s just aVampire Highbornand a big group ofUndead. Which is a calm change of pace for those that might have been struggling with theBruchfight and it breaks up the run toward the end of the game pretty nicely. To ensure you don’t miss anything, here’s a handy walkthrough of Chapter 11: A Man Of The People in Evil West.
Destroy The Vampire Nests
Vampire Horde
Fresh off being clocked in the head by a roided-upFelicity, our heroJessie Rentierwaks up in a church run by aReverend Stravinsky. Seems the goodReverendis the one who saved him from the carnage at Dickerson, and has heard rumors of a nearbyRentier Institute Cellin the mountains that could hold the secrets to upgradingJessies Gauntlet. Unfortunately, beforeJessiecan chase up that lead he’ll have to deal with more pressing issues. Seems the town he’s holed up in is currently overrun withVampires, and he’ll need to exterminate this pest problem before he can leave.
TheUndeadare pouring into the town from holes in the ground and it’s your job to shore them up. To do that you’ll be using anew weapon, theExplosive Bundles. These hand-tossed pipe bombs have a short range, but they do a lot of damage and despite being on a cooldown, are infinite. Plus, the cooldown timer only kicks in if you get a kill with one or deal damage, so you can toss them around freely if you just want to see things go boom.
TheExplosive Bundlesare one of thebest weapons in the game. Especially fully upgraded. They can instantly kill packs of smaller minions and decimate the health bars of biggerUndead.
The goal here is to take your new toy aroundVampire Nestentrances around the town, and then toss inExplosive Bundlesto close them by causing a cave-in. Each one is defended by a wave of monsters, and you can tackle them in pretty much any order you want. For the sake of efficiency incollectible hunting, we’ll be running you through a specific path to make sure every valuable is hoovered up along the way.
From the starting point, go down the street to the right and look to the left. There’s the first bag ofBucksyou’ll be collecting for this chapter. Opposite this cash is a fence and hopping over it will trigger the first arena fight as well, it’s a slightly tricky one, but it’s a chance to test out the effectiveness of theExplosive Bundles. Although, don’t use them on the exploding Infected Wasters that appear as it’s just a waste, save it for theHive Cronethat spawns immediately after them as it’s the bigger threat.
Along with the Crone you’ll be dealing with a decently sized crowd ofInfected Vessels. After theHive Cronedrops, someJengu Giantswill appear and once they’re dispatched you’re able to blow up the nest entrance. Hop the fence on the right when you’re done, break open the glowing box for theBucksinside and follow the path down to theWater Wheel. Hop over the gap when there’s space between the wheels and go left at the top of the stairs.
Hop back through the gap and follow the path, there’sBuckson top of a barrel, and around the corner is aglowing boxon the ground with another hidden cache ofBucks. Retrace your path back to the big wheel and hop over the gap, there’s anotherglowing boxjust on your right, smash it and take theBucksit drops. Also, get ready for a fight as a bunch ofVampireswill spawn the second you enter this new area.
The fight is pretty straightforward and it dumps everything on you from the start, so adapt and move. There’s going to beBoo-Hags,Screeching Devils,Jengu Giants, a medium-sized group ofInfected Vessels, and aLeecherto top it all off and keep you on your toes. Also, at the back left of this area from where you came in is another bag ofBucks, so grab it as you’re dodging around. Monsters disposed of, time to move on.
Hop the chain at the back right side of the arena and follow the path around to theGraveyard, this is where the nextVampire Nestis. As you enter theGraveyard, go to the far right side as there’sBuckson the ground in front of a grave. Hopping into here also triggers another fight, so make sure you’re ready to rumble. Thankfully, this one is a little easier, it’s just someJengu Giantsand a few large waves ofInfected Vessels, so it’s good for farmingEnergyorHealthat least. Once they’re dead, chuck anExplosive Bundleinto the hole and move on.
Dropping down into this next area, look to your left by the shacks close to the bridge. There’s a bag ofBuckstucked away in there, and if you go across the bridge, there’s a wagon with someTNTbehind it.
Although you’ll need to deal with someInfected Vessels,Wasters,Proteus, andBoo-Hagsfirst. It’s a small group, so it’s not too tough. Detonate the explosives and you’ll find achestwith244 Bucksinside. From here you’ll be grabbing quite a bit of cash as opposite thischestis a shed and within is aglowing boxright at the back withBucksto collect.
Across from thiscollectible cashis your next nest, all you need to do is go through the doorway and chuck anExplosive Bundledown the hole. But do it fast as a couple ofBoo-Hagswill pop out every now and then to ambush you. Once the problems are dealt with, go up the stairs of this building, hop over the barricade and look left. There’s acollectible lore notecalledSeven-Year-Olds Drawingand achestwith570 Bucks, quite the reward. There’s also a door to smash open, but it will loop you back around to the main street.Stay in this building for now.
Inside the windmill and across from the chest is a ladder, climb up it and at the top will be one of this levelsHidden Chestswith the reward of theWork-Life Balanceperk inside. Jump on theZiplineto get back to the arena from before that’s just across from theWater Wheel. From there, go back down to the bridge again, but instead of going across, go to the right. There’s a barricade to hop that will take you into some caves.
When it’s activated,Work-Life Balancewill convert 25 percent of all pickups toHealthandEnergybars respectively. It’s a very useful way to keep everything topped up and balanced.Highly recommended perk to have.
Outside of the cave entrance on the left is acollectible lore notetitledGrey Oaks Resident Letter, it’s one of a pair, but we’ll get to that. Shoot theTNTinside the Mine entrance and after the big red box goes boom, the way ahead will be cleared. Slide through the gap and get ready for a big brawl with aCarrion Husk, it’ll have back-up fromInfected Vessels,Infected ProteusandScreeching Devils, but just focus on the big boy. TheExplosive Bundlesare worth using here as it’s a pretty tight area so it’s easy to get the smallerGhoulsall clumped together for a bit of high-explosive crowd control.
After they’re turned into paste, make sure to smash open the glowing box at the back for moreBucksbefore detonating anotherVampire Nestand climbing the chain up to the next small area for more rewards. Up here is another collectible lore note, this time it’s the second piece of theGrey Oaks Resident letter. There’s also anotherHidden Chestwith theGhost Skinfor theRentier Revolver. Drop down into the arena from before again and head all the way back to the main street where you started.
At the main street, go down the left-hand side, there’s aPerk Reset Machineto use if you need a respec or didn’t see it earlier. There’s also a barricade a bit further down and behind that is another bag ofBucks. Keep going down this street and take your first right down the hill, there’s Bucks down this slope. Go back up it and turn right towards theTNT, blow it to smithereens and you’ll be able to open achestwith591 Bucks. With all those collected, time to head to theWater Wheelbuilding again.
From the front door, go right along the wooden walkway into the small clearing. There’s a barricade to smash open forBucksand if you go up onto the ledge above then follow it around to the front, there’s moreBucksout on the balcony. After grabbing the cash, go back to where you came in and go over the small bridge. At the end of it is the lastVampire Nestto destroy, this one is an easy one. It’s just someInfected Vessels, explodingInfected Wasters, and a handful ofBoo-Hags. After they’re killed you can grab theBucksnext to the grinding stone, chuck anExplosive Bundlein the hole and wind down this chapter ofEvil West.
You can instantly kill everything in this group in one shot. Just funnel them onto the bridge next to theTNTbox and it should vaporize all of them. Especially if you have the perk that increases explosion sizes by 50 percent.
Once the last of the nests are destroyed (regardless of order), your next objective will be to get back to theChurchand survive the monster onslaught. The brawl that follows is pretty brutal, so it’s highly recommended that you take a moment to clean the area for pickups and opportunities to get all your bars filled for the fight that’s about to follow.

Boss Fight: Vampire Horde
To trigger this fight, just run up theChurch. There’ll be a big horde waiting for you andJessie’sonly option is to just chew through them as they come. At first it’ll be quite an easy start to the battle as it’s just a large group ofInfected VesselsandBoo-Hags. So they’re quick to put down, plus it’s worth using them to farm anyHealthorEnergyyou might be short on as the battle is about to escalate substantially once they’re dead.
As soon as they drop aVampire Highbornwill drop into the fight, followed by twoLeechersto stop you from focusing too much damage on their powerful friend. Take down the two shield boys first as they can’t regenerate but theHighborncan.Boo-Hagsand explodingInfected Wasterswill also sporadically jump in to annoy you, but just use them as resource farms whilst dodging around the larger lads.
Once they’re dead the chapter ends,Reverend Stravinskycomes out and givesJessiea telegram from headquarters. The message confirms the theory about theInstitute Cellin the mountains that could upgrade hisGauntlet, so off he goes to find it.
