Boss fight

Evil West: Jessie Arriving At Dickerson

Find A Way To The Train Station

Bruch

Right off the bat,Jessie Rentiercomes into the cutscene guns blazing (metaphorically) as he givesHarrowa long overdue piece of his mind. It’s satisfying to see someone get angry at this pompous character. ButJessieunfortunately has played his hand too early by threateningHarrowthat he’ll tell thePresidentthat hisSecretary of Warhas been getting cash from the conflict through less than ethical means. The status quo resettles somewhat through this argument, but on the upside it seems the cure for theVampire Infectionworked onWilliam Rentier.

The old man is up and about, suspiciously looking fine and much better than he ever was before, this probably won’t come back to bite theRentier Institutelater. For the time being, a new lead on theVampiresis discovered asJessiesets off to stopFelicityfrom using a train station to export her monsters all across theUnited States. But first, there are collectibles to gather before going through that big chunk of front-loaded exposition.

Evil West: Jessie Tearing Into Harrow

The chapter starts in the small back office of theCalicohideout, noSaloonthis time. From the starting point, go down the stairs to the planning area and go to wall of weapons, there’s the first bag ofcollectible cashin the form ofBucksfor this chapter on the table. From there, head towards the large machinery room, there’s another stash ofBuckson a big workbench by two talking workers. Cash collected, next collectible is a lore note, an issue of theDaily Mail Newsand it’s found by the big barrel door.

You’ll need to head toEmilia’s Laboratorynext and between the two display cabinets with skeletons is theState Courierlore note. After grabbing that, go into the first room on the right in the basement and on theSurgical Tableat the back is the last of theCalicocash collectibles. Now you can go talk toWilliam Rentierand start the chapter properly.

Evil West: The Horror Seen By William Rentier

The town’s seen better days, but now everything’s ablaze and theUndeadare prowling around. As the new area starts, head forward and keep left, there’s a barricade to smash and someBucksbehind it to keep your cash flow topped up. A feet opposite that last cash pile is another one down the brief path to the right at the fork. Go left from there along the main path, shoot theTNTand keep left. There’sBuckson boxes and as you loop around the corner ahanging corpsewill be directly in front of you, shoot it down and take its cash as well. They won’t need it after all.

Continue around this short area to the left and grab theEnergy Recharge. You’re going to need it for what comes next. It’s time for a brawl and a new enemy type, theGhauland theZealot. These guys are basically like a super-powered version of theServant Gunslingerand theServant Brute.Ghaulslike to teleport around to constantly plink away at you from range, or use it as an escape to then regenerate the entire health bar of themselves or others. They’re also backed up by the super tankyZealots, so it’s a solid mix of enemy types that’ll keep you on your toes.

Evil West: The Introduction Of The New Ghaul Enemy

After a while, aVampire Highbornwill drop in to escalate the situation somewhat but clear out the otherGhoulsfirst before tackling the big guy. When theHighborndies the fight will end and you can leave the burningRodeo Ring. Hop the barricade and in front of you will be a glowing box withBucks. Go left from there and behind a wagon near the burning ring is someTNTand after that’s gone there will be achestwith369 Bucks. Continue along the main path to the fork and go left to deal with theInfected Vesselsmilling about the burning wreckage. There’s a barricade to smash at the left of this area and behind it is a much-neededEnergy Recharge.

Keep left from here and behind the building next to theEnergy Rechargewill be a pile ofTNT. Blow it up and the shack will crack open, allowing you to go inside and open a chest with369 Bucks. Leave this structure and retrace your steps back to the right-hand path, there’ll be aglowing boxon a porch withBucksinside that you’re able to pick up. Cash collected, move on to the big group ofInfected VesselsandInfected Proteusahead. Deal with them and then walk to the barn at the back, there areBuckson the ground.

Evil West: Collectible Bucks On A Box By A Barn

Go all the way back to the blown-apart building and walk into the open area directly across from this and deal with theInfected VesselsandInfected Proteusgathered around the tree. To the right of this tall crystalline plant is a barricade, but briefly before that and to the right are moreBucks. Cash collected, smash the barricade and go down the path before turning right when you see theInfected Vesselsshambling towards you. There’ll be a flipped wagon and someBucksto grab before dealing with theGhouls.

There’s a pretty large group of them, but once they’re taken down walk toward where they came from and look for a shed filled with cut planks. There’s a small path in there that will lead to a chest with350 Bucks. Head over the short bridge theInfectedwere wandering over and look to the right behind some wood, there’s a bag ofBucks. Go up the incline and on the right side of the path again are some moreBucks. Climb the chain at the top of the hill and go to the back and right of this open area, there’s acollectible lore notein the form ofFelicity’s Diaryby the crystals growing next to the tree. On the opposite end of this space is a wood shed and moreBucksinside to add to the growing collection.

Evil West: Jessie Dealing With Infected In Front Of A Burning Church

By this point inEvil Westthe game will be throwing a lot of cash at you. Ideally, this should be spent onPerksor a few crucialWeapon Upgrades.

Hop the barricade in front of theChurchand buckle up for a big fight once the cutscene finishes because this one is going to be rough. OnceFelicityhas finished being melodramatic, you’re going to be dealing with a large group ofGhoulscomprised of threeLeechers, and a big blob ofInfected Vesselsat first. It’s recommended that you focus on the big guys first, then use the smaller minions as a source of energy asJessies Overchargeis really good at tearing through big health bars. Also, theCrippling Rodcan set them up forE-Combos, so pop it often.

Evil West: Hidden Bag Of Bucks

Once the fight finishes, take a breath for a moment, then break the barricadedChurchgates. Directly in front of you after doing this is aglowing boxwithBucksinside. Go down into the town and look to the top left of the street as you do, there’s ahanging corpsewithBucksto claim. There’ll be someInfected Vesselsin front of theStableto deal with, but they’re a pushover by this point. Head to the left of this area and behind a wagon is someBucksand on the far right of this same spot is another bag ofBucksby some boxes.

There’s a third pile ofBucksin the pockets of the hanging corpse inside theStableonce you go inside and on the boxes in front of you is the second chapter ofFelicity’s Diary. Lot of stuff to pick up here. Exit theStableby going through the gap and brace yourself for another massive brawl. This time it’s againstBoo-Hags,Zealots, teleportingGhauls, and aGasterfrom the previous chapter that’s now a normal enemy. Focus on theGasterfirst, then take down the smaller targets using theTNTboxes if you want to make this fight a bit more manageable as it can turn into a dogpile quickly.

Evil West: The Location Of One Of The Switches To Shoot

Lengthy fight finished, it’s time to hit the brakes on progress for a moment by doing aPower Switch Puzzle. This time you’ll need to shoot targets around the area, but you can climb the nearby towers to hit some of the hard-to-reach ones, plus the bright yellow wiring will show you exactly where to aim. Worth noting there’s a chain in the middle of this puzzle that can be shot down. Climbing up it will lead to aHidden Chestwith theHealthy Lifestyleperk inside.

When all three switches are flipped a door will open allowing progress and access to a newWeapon BlueprintforJessie. Run up the stairs and break the barricade at the top to find another chest with385 Bucksinside. Leave this room, hop the barricade and run along the length of the balcony, there’s someBucksat the end and a path. The trail from here leads down a bunch of back alleys filled withInfected Vesselsand more odd crystals.

Evil West: Jessie Encounter A Horde Of Infected

Continue onwards and when you go up a set of stairs there will be aglowing boxwithBucksinside it tucked away on the right. After you pick it up and walk a few feet forward you’ll be ambushed by someBoo-Hags, make sure they regret that decision. After they’re turned into paste, keep pushing forward and you’ll encounter moreInfected Vesselsjust around the corner.

There’s a pile ofTNTon the left of this street that conceals achestand367 Bucks. Directly opposite this is a small side street, run down it and at the end on the right is a breakable door. Behind this is anotherchestwith420 Bucks. Return to the main path and watch the left side before going through the crystal-covered hole, there’s the thirdFelicity’s Diarycollectible on the ground.

Evil West: Jessie Being Swarmed By Infected Vessels

Go inside the building and look right, on the countertop will beBucks. Hop the barricade into the burning street and keep going forward. There’s going to be a big group ofInfected Vesselsto grind through as well asInfected Proetuschucking projectiles from the rooftops, so watch out for those. Try and keep this group funneled at one end of the street and you shouldn‘t have too much difficulty. There’s more just down the street, so work through them in small groups instead of getting them all to come at once.

On the right side of this street are someTNTboxes, behind them is achestwith434 Bucksinside and just next to the metal gate at the end of this constant slog is the lastFelicity’s Diarypage for this Chapter. Now it’s time for a boss fight.

Boss Fight: Bruch

Welcome to the first of three of the worst boss fights inEvil West. AsFelicityescapes with her collectedUndead Army, our hero has to contend with one of her creations,Bruch. This creature is all damage and aggression all of the time. If you’re not dodging and backing up constantly you’re going to end up dead.

She has multiple stages and the first involves a Devil May Cry-esqueStinger Chargewhere she charges and then flails her claws.Bruchwill also do a wide tail swipe when she gets close, so keep backing up and just wear her down with theRentier RifleorX-Bowuntil the next phase starts. After a while she’ll startcreating clonesof herself using insects, these can do damage but are very weak. Just ignore them and focus onBruchas they’re only a distraction for her to hit you with a rangedenergy ballattack.

Do enough damage andBruchwill teleport to the edge of the arena. When this happens she’ll be invulnerable and a group ofBoo-Hags,Infected Vessels, and occasionallyInfected Proteuswill appear to harass you. Use them to harvestEnergyorHealthif you have the right perks because you’re going to need it to get through this boss fight. During this phase,Bruchwill also launch a bigenergy ballattack at you, but it can be interrupted when her weak-point flashes.

Eventually, the spindly madam will rejoin the fight only to flee to the arena again and summonbug clonesagain. She’ll alternate between the clones and minions as she jumps in and out of the fight, so it can turn into quite a slog if you’re having a hard time chipping her health bar down. After it gets to a quarter full, phase three will start.

This is where things get very annoying.Bruchwill stand in the middle of the room and summon a big rotatingwave of carnivorous insects. They hurt quite a bit and are very hard to dodge unless you go through specific gaps. Problem is,Jessieis very slow, the wave is fast and it’s often unclear until the last second where the opening is. So getting to all of them is borderline impossible, so you’re going to take a few hits from this one unfortunately.

The wave also doesn’t just rotate.Bruchwill summon one that will move outwards from her, so get ready to pivot and deal with that when it comes. She’ll also summon ashieldof them to fire from behind before sending out the wave as a last cheeky hit. After the bug waves, there’ll be a fairly long cooling-off period before she does it again, so get those hits in whilst you can.

Once the third phase starts,Bruchwill alternate between all of her phases at once. So try to keep track of what’s getting thrown at you and when. It’s a grind of a fight, but hang in there.

After the fight finishes,Jessiewill get sucker punched by a mysterious creature that appears to be a mutatedFelicitybefore he quickly passes out and the chapter ends.
