This side quest can be a little frustrating; the item you need to start your search is exceedingly well hidden as is the object of your search. Fortunately, we have written this guide to help you get through this treasure hunt in short order so that you can get back to the more important tasks at hand.
Where To Start Treasure Hunt: Out Of The Frying Pan, Into The Fire
The quest begins by finding a hidden cellar under the town of Mowshurst,east of Lindenvale and north of Reardon, where the questThe Fall of the House of Reardontook place. The town itself is occupied by a pack of ghouls that will almost certainly attack you when you investigate.
Mowshurst itself has somevaluable loot.Taking the time to ransack whatever is left of the town can yield valuable crafting materials.
You will have to go to aslope on the south side of Mowshurstand look for acellar doorbuilt into the slope. It will behighlighted by your Witcher Senses.Once located, use Aard to blow it open andloot the body inside.It will give you a letter and a key. Read the former to start the treasure hunt.
Finding The Treasure
With the key in hand, go to thenorth side of Mowshurstand look for a large pile of hay. The treasure chest that the dead man in the cellar was hiding is embedded in the side of the pile. Loot it to end the quest.
You are guaranteed aMag Deira Cuirassfrom the chest. It is a piece of heavy armor thatboosts Geralt’s resistance to damagein addition to its conventional protection.
