Kratos might be a god himself, but regardless of his divine power, it’s the tools of the trade that truly get the job done. His icy Leviathan Axe is a brutal, devastating weapon that’s served him well since he acquired it from his wife, Faye, upon her death just before God of War (2018).

This is located in alegendary chestin theApplecore of Svartalfheim.

This can actually be acquired during the main story mission,The Quest for Tyr. During the quest, there is a curved wooden walk that leads to a chain lever that Kratos must pull to proceed. However, the chain is blocked by green rocks that Atreus must destroy with his Sonic Arrows. Before approaching this, there is actually another path to the left along the curved wooden path.

It leads to a gap that can Kratos swing across. He’ll land on a ledge he can jump down from. There is a door that leads toThe Hateful Draugr holeand a legendary chest that contains theFortified Frost Knob.

Returning To The Applecore In Case You Missed The Attachment During the Story

However, if you missed this treasure during that mission and are attempting to go back and collect it, you will have to do so only after acquiring the Draupnir Spear. There is a sequence during The Quest for Tyr that prevents you from trekking back through the Applecore along the same pathway you followed in that mission.

to reach the Applecore again, you’ll have to travel by the raft affixed to the rope justNorthwest of the Aurvangar Wetlands Mystic Gateway.

Map of Svartalfheim-2

Following this pathway, you’ll eventually reach an elevator that takes you to an underground path. If you follow the winding path to the bottom ignoring cliff ledges you can climb up or jump down along the way, you’ll reach a wall that requires aDraupnir Spearin order to scale it.

At the top of the ledge, head down a corridor, and you’ll find a rock on the left that can be destroyed with the Draupnir Spear. Toss one into it and detonate it.

Follow the path as it curves to the right and swing across the gap in order to climb the ledge across. Then, follow the path to a ledge with a chain that you may kick down for easy access later. Jump down and prepare tofight the fire troll Miklimunnr.

After the fight, look for a tunnel in the room that Kratos will have to crouch in order to enter. Follow that tunnel into an open area. On the right, you’ll see a ledge along a wall that you may walk across. Follow that ledge.

Kratos and Atreus approaching a Draugr Hole

Lift the gate on the other side and head through. Hop down from the ledge and open the door to the right. There is aDraugr holein the center. The legendary chest containing theFortified Frost Knobis on the ledge in the back of the room.

Stonecutter’s Knob

TheStonecutter’s Knobis available for you to craft after completing the sixth main quest,The Reckoning. This is complete after you defeatNidhogg, aid Freya in her goal, andreturn to Atreus at Sindri and Brok’s home.

The Stonecutter’s Knobboosts strength and defense, though it weighs most heavily on strength which is usually twice the boost it’s giving to defense. It also adds a perk calledSlicing Finishupon upgrade that adds a concussive wave to the end of an Axe (R1) combo. So, that’s a nice addition to an already potent combo that is bolstered by the strength bonuses of this attachment.

Grip Of Weighted Recovery

Like the Stonecutter’s Knob, theGrip Of Weighted Recoveryis also available to craft after completingThe Reckoningstoryline mission.

It’s a weapon that bolstersstrengthandrunicstats. When upgraded it gains theSeized Refreshperk which provides an additionalcooldown boostwhen stun-grabbing an enemy using R3. It’s, perhaps, one of the more underwhelming attachments available to you for the Leviathan Axe.

Grip Of Healing Harmony

TheGrip of Healing Harmonyis another Leviathan Axe attachment that is obtained by merely completing a mainline quest objective. You’ll receive this attachment once youclose the Hel-Tearduring the twelfth storyline mission,Reunion. It will be a reward for completing this particular objective.

Grip Of The Fallen Alchemist

This attachment is located in a legendary chest in Pilgrim’s Landing, a location in Vanaheim. Head to the marker on the map below where you’ll be tasked with lowering a draw bridge in order to access this legendary chest.

If you are facing the bridge, turn to your right, and you’ll find a clasp holding a structure against a tree. Freya will probably make a comment noticing the structure as a hint.

Then, turn to the bridge and sever the clasp to the left of the bridge with a well-placed axe throw. You won’t be able to free the left side because it’s covered in bramble. You’re going to find a way to burn the bramble away. That’s our next step.

Turn back to the hanging structure you just freed from the tree. Notice that above the stone archway to the right of the structure is a lit brazer. The hanging structure has two unlit brazers on it that will need to be lit. Target the bottom piece of the structure with your Blades of Chaos and swing it to the right so that the right side brazer is set aflame by the brazer above the archway.

After the right brazer on the swinging structure is lit, fire multiple sigil arrows connecting the flames in the brazer on the right with the unlit brazer on the left to set the left side on fire.

Then, grapple the structure with your chains again and swing it left so that you can light the unlit brazer sitting on the ledge of the ruins near the red bramble.

Then aim and have Freya fire a sigil arrow at the lit brazer which will automatically connect it with the bramble setting it on fire and revealing the clasp on the right side of the bridge. Hit the clasp to cause the bridge to fall enabling you to cross it.

Immediately in front of you when crossing the bridge is alegendary chest that contains the Grip of the Fallen Alchemist.

The Grip of the Fallen Alchemist offers boosts tostrength, vitality, and luck. Upon upgrading, theSerpent’s Health Burstwill be activated which offers a high luck chance to grant a health burst on any successful hit with the Serpent’s Snare skill (holding R2).

Runic Hailstone Knob

This attachment is located at the Crater area in Vanaheim and can only be obtained by throwing enoughCrystalline Fragmentsinto thewishing well. When exploring this totally optional area - which is only available after theCreatures of Prophecymain mission - you will come across Crystalline Fragments and shards that Kratos can collect and then toss into a magical wishing well in order to claim loot and gear.

These orange Crystalline Fragments can be found scattered throughout the Crater and Jungle areas. Toss enough in and theRunic Hailstone Knobwill eventually be yours.

This attachment boosts strength, runic, and luck stats. Once you upgrade the attachment, thePrey Upon Frostperk is activated offering moderate luck on boosting runic even further when hitting a frosted enemy.

Banahogg Knob

This can be retrieved when heading back to the Applecore area later in the game.Follow the guide for the Fortified Frost Knoball the way until the point you reach the door to the room the attachment is located in. From there, grapple back up the ledge on the right side of the door, and instead of going through the gate you lifted to return here, head right by grappling across the gap to the curved wooden pathway.

Head to the right around the curved pathway until you see another wooden pathway below. Jump down and remove the obstruction under the waterway, crouch, and continue on the path.

You can ignore the troll and swing across the gap on the left with the blue glow emitting from the waters below. Jump up to the ledge on your immediate right, and head through the door in front of you slightly to your left.

Once through the door, jump up to the ledge on the left and toss a spear into a beam

Use the spear to jump across to a ledge where you’re able to activate a mystic gateway and lift a gate.

Lift the gate and head to your immediate left. On the left side, you will see a path between the floor and a rock wall. Crouch down into it. Upon emerging from the small tunnel, grapple up to the only ledge available and head down that pathway. You will be forced to turn right along a track and will find a rune slate, that you must activate.

Activating the rune will unveil an alcove hidden by a rock wall to the right of the slate. A legendary treasure chest is inside which contains theBanahogg Knob.

The Banahogg Knob providesstrength and vitality boosts. With an upgrade, you will receive theBare Forceperk which increases damage with bare-handed attacks after precision throws of the axe.

Grip Of Radiant Reflection

TheGrip of Radiant Reflectionwill be available as a crafting option after successfully completing the fourteenth mainline mission,Unlocking the Mask. This is a storyline mission where you play as Atreus who is assisting Thor in Niflheim to find a mask fragment. This mission ends when Atreus returns to Kratos at Sindri’s house.

This attachment focuses on providing boosts forstrength, runic, and cooldown. Although, it weighs heavily on the side of strength with boosts to runic and cooldown being less than half the strength boost is in all of its upgrades. The perk that comes along with this attachment isPrecision Momentum. Successful ranged attacks now generate “a charge of the Permafrost skill” with successful precision throws “generating even more.”

Grip Of The Nine Realms

The Grip of the Nine Realms is obtained bydefeating one of the optional Berserker gravestone bosses. In particular, it’sHjalti the Stolidlocated inAlfheim.

The attachment will be a reward for defeating Hjalti. It gives a serious but equal boost torunic, cooldown, and luck. What’s even more gnarly is that when you activateGlacial Permafrost(L1 + triangle) when Permafrost is full, aRealm Shiftis triggered. This is theMomentous Shiftperk.
