World of Warcraft: Dragonflightramps up what crafters can do once they hit max level and improve their professions and specialisations further. One of these is to create special items that come with a bunch of unique effects, what Blizzard is calling Embellished gear.

In order to make this wondrous equipment, you’re going to need to farm some equally unique materials. Among those are Elemental Souls, the essence of defeated Elemental enemies that you’ve trapped and harnessed. There are four types — Airy Soul. Earthen Soul, Fiery Soul, and Frosty Soul — so here’s how to get hold of them and what you’ll need to do so.
What You Need Before Collecting Elemental Souls
There aretwo key pieces of equipmentyou’re going to need if you want to go Elemental Soul hunting — theZapthrottle Soul Inhalerand someEmpty Soul Cages. You only need one Inhaler, as itcomes with a cooldown and can be reused, but you’re going to needone Cage per Soulyou need.
If you have a high-levelEngineerandJewelcrafterat hand, then you’re sorted — you’re able to make them yourself. If not, you’re going to have to rely on friends or take the pricier option of theAuction House. Buckle up, as this can get expensive.
When I bought them off the AH for this guide, I paid just under10,000 gold for the Inhaler, and around500 gold apiece for the Cages.
Here’s what you’ll need tocraft the items yourself. Most of these reagents can be purchased at the Auction House.
Arclight Spanner, Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor
Reagents:
Handful of Serevite Bolts (6), Shock-Spring Coil (2), Everburning Blasting Powder (3), Greased-Up Gears (3), Arclight Capacitor (1), Reinforced Machine Chassis (1)
Jeweler’s Tools
Fractured Glass (3), Rousing Air (2), Rousing Earth (2), Rousing Fire (2), Rousing Frost (2)
Remember, if you’re getting another player to make the item for you, it’s good etiquette toleave a tipwhen accepting the item in trade!
How To Capture Elemental Souls
Even after getting hold of these items, catching a Soul isn’t easy. First,you’ll need to locate the Elementals you need, which you’ll find below. These areElite enemiesthat tend to have longer spawn timers.
Then, the real tricky part comes. You can’t just use the Inhaler on a corpse, like with certain quests —the Elemental has to die while you’re channeling the Inhaler.
The best way to do this is byusing abilities that deal damage over time, or ‘dots’. Warlocks have loads of these, while others include theHunter’sSerpent Shot, thePaladin’sConsecration, and theWarrior’sRend. Ultimately, all classes have an ability they can use.
Another tip is todismiss any pets you may have active, as you don’t want them killing off your prey before you can complete the channeling, andmake sure the area is clearof lesser enemiesthat can swarm you!
If successful, you’ll get an item called anEncaged Soul. Now, you may be tempted to interact with the item — after all, it says ‘Right Click to Open’ —but you must not do this. Instead, just leave it in your inventory, and it’ll eventuallyturn into a Docile Soul.
Be mindful that Encaged Soulsbind when picked up, meaning youcannot trade or sellthem.
Also note that once an Encaged Soul is captured, the Zapthrottle Soul Inhalerwill go ona15-minute cooldown.
Now you can open it, and most of the time you do you’ll be granted the Soul of the element in the name. The Docile Soulscan contain someFractured Glass(one of the reagents in crafting Cages), and may also dropBattle Petscorresponding to the element:

Where To Find Airy Souls
There is onlyone sourceof Airy Souls in the Dragon Isles, from aStormbound Colossus. Given Ohn’ahra is the Wild God of the Wind, it makes sense you’ll find them in theOhn’arhran Plains.
You’ll need to locate an area calledThe Storm Scar. The easiest way to get there is to fly into theShady Sanctuaryflight master, thenfly directly northfollowing the coast. You’ll eventually come to a stormy area with a battle raging between several different parties. The Colossi roam this area.
Where To Find Earthen Souls
For the Earthen Soul, head north intoThe Waking Shores, with the best flight path being toUktulut Pieron the northeast coast. Then,head east through the canyonuntil you see a trio of Elite hunters chilling around a campfire. To the left, you’ll see theEarthshatter Elementalchucking rocks into a hole filled with lava. you may find more if youfollow the ridge to the northeast.
An alternate source is from the rare spawnMorchok, found just to theeast of the Obsidian Citadel. This area is teeming with foes, so be prepared to fight, but it may bean easier optionfor those struggling with the damage-over-time strategy on lower-health enemies.
Where To Find Fiery Souls
There are two locations in which you can obtain Fiery Souls. The first is found inThe Azure Span, in an area near Vakthros. Fly toRhonin’s Shieldin the north of the zone, and then travelsoutheast. You’ll see afiery canyondirectly south ofTheron’s Watchyou can enter that’s teeming withFire Elementals.
The second is from the giantBlazing Infernoenemy found inThaldraszus. Fly intoThe Garden Shrinein the southwest, and thenhead north. You can’t miss this enemy — it towers over everything around it.
Where To Find Frosty Souls
Again, you’ll have two options for locating Frosty Souls. You’ll find theForce of the Springsin the middle of theOhn’iri Springsin southernOhn’ahran Plains, the same location you can open theWater-Bound Chestonce per week for high-level gear.
Alternatively, you can head to the very southern part ofThe Azure Span, to a location namedImbuon the coastsouthwest of Camp Nowhere. You’ll findAwakened Revenantsroaming around, but there are a lot of enemies around that can quickly overwhelm you.

Embellished Gear And How To Get It
While Embellished gear comes withsome unique abilities, by the time you come to craft it you may well have moved on to stronger items. The other drawback to Embellished items is that the things you create allbind when picked up, meaning youcan’t sell them at the Auction House.
However, if you’re still trying toincrease your Dragon Isles Profession rank, these items will likely grant you those all-important points. Plus, they oftenonly need one Soulas part of the process. Here’s what you can craft.
