With the release ofWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight, new wild pets have been added to capture around the Dragon Isles. There are11 petsto collect from vendors, quest rewards, achievement goodies, and more! Whether you’re an avid pet battle master, experienced tamer, or you just saw a pet you find cute, we’re going to guide you in capturing those adorable little beasties.

You may be planning on taming pets as you level through the different zones. If this is the case, we’ve listed our guide based on the flow of the storyline throughfour Dragon Isles zonesin a particular order.
We’ll be using co-ordinates for locations, so we strongly advise downloading theCo-ordinates add-on by TomCat Tours. You candownload this add-on via Curse Forge.
The Waking Shores Battle Pets
The Waking Shoresis where you’ll first step foot on the Dragon Isles. (Unless you’re a Dracthyr, then you technically started at the Forbidden Reach.) Either way, this is where you’ll begin the main campaign. You’ll be plunged into the lore of the red and black dragonflights.
As you explore, you’ll be finding some familiar pets and brand-new ones. Here are all thenew battle petsavailable in The Waking Shores:
Wild Battle Pets Located In The Waking Shores
Around The Waking Shores, you’ll be able to catch a variety of wild pets. These include:
Igneoid
Elemental
This pet can be difficult to find. They can appear around the cliffs of theOverflowing Rapids.
Ironbeak Duck
Flying
Plenty can be found by the water, south of theWingrest Embassyaround77.51, west of theSkytop Observatory.
Thaldraszus and The Azure Span.
Magma Slug
Several can be found at77.30, with some being on a lower level of a lavafall nearScalecracker Keep.
Ohn’ahran Plains and Thaldraszus.
Snowlemental
Found in the snowy area just south of theRuby Life Pools.
Scalecracker Keep and Obsidian Citadel, during a Primal Storm.
The Azure Span and Ohn’ahran Plains.
Plucky Duckling
Aquatic
Have been spotted near the Ruby Life Pools at57.71. You may need tokill Wild Ducklingsfor a Plucky Duckling to spawn.

The Waking Shores Treasure Battle Pets
The Waking Shores also has a few pets that can be found as part of treasures.
Azure Frillfish
Firstly, you’ll need an item calledA Guide to Rare Fish. These can be found across the Dragon Isles incratesorDisturbed Dirt. The closest ones(Reed Chests)can be found at theRestless Wetlands,scattered around the campsite just south ofWingrest Embassy around 80.44. Once you collect the item, go to40.41, and you’ll be able to interact with a glowingFragrant Plant. This then allows you to interact with aBubble Drifter, swimming in the sea close to the plant. Once you do, you’ll receive yourAzure Frillfish!
Roseate Hopper
Location: Found in a cave at64.69, north-east of theRuby Life Pools, guarded by a big ol’Possessive Hornswog.To get passed this chonker, you’ll need:
To the left of the Possessive Hornswog, you’ll see a rock that opens the bookObservant Riddles: A Field Guide.Right-click on the items to combine them, which will give youObservant Riddle “Treat”.When you throw it at the Hornswog, it’ll hop away, and you’ll have access to the cave. Inside you’ll find a box,Hidden Hornswog Hostage.Your newRoseate Hopperwill be found inside the treasure!
Bugbiter Tortoise
For this pet, you’ll need to begin with finding anEroded Fossiland aPetrified Dragon Egg. These are located around waterfalls and caves. However, they both appear within theApex Canopy,but they seem to have low spawn rates. It’s worth checking any cave you come across for these illusive items.
When you do locate them, you may exchange them for the Bugbiter Tortoise viaCymre Brightblade (22.95).This NPC will only appear when the world quest,Brightblade’s Bones, is active - so keep an eye out!
Yries Lightfingers(Draenei vendor at26.55in theObsidian Citadel)
Can be bought for1 x Rock of Aegis, 2 x Pre-Sentient Rock Cluster, and3 x Elemental-Infused Blood.
Dragonkin
Lorena Belle, The Waking Shores(25.55)
Costs3 x Primal Bear Spine, 1 x Large Sturdy Femur, 150 x Dragon Isles Supplies. You’ll also need to be at leastAlly statuswith Wrathion’s reputation.

The Waking Shores Quest Battle Pets
Black SkitterbugAnd Gray Marmoni
TheBlack SkitterbugandGray Marmonipets are rewards from the questThe Basecamp ‘Pets’. You will need to beRenown Level 11with the Dragonscale Expedition before this quest will become available. This quest is part of the Dragonscale Expedition Renown quest chain, which starts withPathfinder Jeb (42.83).Although you’re able to only choose one as your quest reward, they are both available to purchase fromCataloger Jakes (47.82).
Spyragos
This little cutie was clearly inspired by Spyro the Dragon with his on the nose name and unique purple scales. To get this troublemaker, you’ll need to complete the questA Dragon’s Day Off.This can be found from an NPC calledVazilliaat theHissing Grotto (20.39).She’s a black dragon that will land every minute or so, but will only appear if you’ve completed Wrathion’s Gambit. The quest involves finding a selection of exotic beverages, these are:

Riptide Brew
Go to63.79, near the Ruby Lifepools. This location will be inside a cave where you’ll need to defeat a skeleton pirate and steal his brew from a large container.
Slam Bam Swill
Go to46.30. You’ll find this beverage in a tree between the Kite Adventurer NPCs.
Popfizz Punch
Go to39.38where you’ll find a shipwreck. You’ll be able to find the brew near the water’s edge of the sunken deck.
Stealthy Elden Wine
Go to25.55and speak withOutfitter Tipech. You’ll be able to buy the drink from this Tauren.
Happy Trigger Sour and Whirlwind Wine
Go to43.67within the Obsidian Bulwark and locate the NPCFirstmate Kaleson. You can purchase the sour from him. Then, right next to him isKora Fullsails. You can buy Kul’Tiran Red from her. Next, fly over to the Skytop Observatory and locate some air elementals within theRestless Wetlands (76. 47). You’ll be able to throw the Kul’Tiran Red at aRampaging Wind. Then, it will throw back aWhirlwind Winestraight into your bag.P.S. Make sure you have bag space!
Flameslinger Rum
Finally, for this last step you’ll need to go toThe Smouldering Perch (39.48).Speak with the NPC,Ingot, and complete the short quest-chain he offers you.The Worldbreakerquest-chain will start with Ingot’s quests:Punching UpAndA Cultist’s Misgivings. After completing these quests, you’ll find a vendor inside a cave at(34.45).He will haveFlameslinger Rumavailable to purchase.
Once you’ve collected all these weird and wonderful juices, pop back to Vazillia and complete the quest! You’ll be awarded your adorableSpyragospet to love and treasure forever.
Ohn’ahran Plains Battle Pets
Wide open space and plenty of good doggos. There’s an array of little beasties for you to capture across the hunting grounds of the Maruuk Centaur.
Can be found near water but is allusive. May share a spawn location withWild Ducklings.
The Waking Shores and Valdrakken.

Critter
Very common across the zone. Seen south of the Maruukai Camp(60.44).

Can be spotted across the Plains and are easy to find.
Dusky Timbertooth
Beast
71.73.This companion is a tricky one to get. The pet can be found stuck under a pile of sticks. You’ll have to wait for the beaver mobs tofinish making their dambefore the pet will be accessible. This can take hours, so it will likely require some patience! Once the sticks are clickable, you can begin clicking them until the pet becomes free.
The Quackcestor
Undead
Go to85.20at theTimberstep Outpost,and you’ll find a tent. Inside, on a crate, there’s a pile of purple stones calledEssence of Awakening.Click this and you’ll receive a buff. Go to42.46, The Primordial Vale,and you’ll now be able to seeThe Quackcestors.
Ohn’ahran Plains Vendor Battle Pets
Hoofhelper
Can be bought fromQuartermaster Huseng at 60.37for20 x Resilient Leather, 5 x Tallstrider Sinew,and150 x Dragon Isles Supplies. You’ll need to beRenown Level 8with the Maruuk Centaur and have completed the questHatching Plans.
Ohn’ahran Plains Quest Battle Pets
Pilot
LocateGracusat theShady Sanctuaryand complete the quests he gives you. There will be three to complete and they’re super easy. Simply collect some bugs, feed some ducklings, and attack a huge swog until it throws up! You’ll receive your petPilotonce you complete the questBut… I Am the Hero of Ducks.
Ohn’ahran Plains Treasure Battle Pets
Viridescent Duck
Location: FindLudothe dog around61.42and take the map from his mouth. Use the item to mark the treasure on your map. At70.35,you’ll find a dirt mound. Click it to receive aSlightly Chewed Duck Egg. In 3 days, yourViridescent Duckwill hatch!

The Azure Span Battle Pets
The perfect zone for fans of the Grizzly Hills. With relaxing music and ambience and stunning scenes, hunting pets in this area is destined to be a chilled experience. And the heaps of snow makes it pretty chilled too.
Very common and can be found throughout The Azure Span.
Chalkshell Turtle
Speak toLani at 10.47, she is sitting on a rock by the water. She will give youTurtle Bait. Then, click the additional action button and the pet will appear for you to battle.
Grizzlefur Cub
32.35is a known location for this rare pet. We recommend checking out the location in Thaldraszus for a higher chance of capturing them.
This pet can be difficult to find in The Azure Span. We recommend looking in Thaldraszus alongSteelcliff Passage (50.51).
Kindlet
These are hard to locate in The Azure Span. However, plenty are scattered aroundScalecracker Keepclose to lava in The Waking Shores.
Pale Baby Vorquin
Go to45.38and you’ll find a book on the floor inside the pavilion atCamp Antonidas. Click it to receive the buffSight of Elusive Vorquin. Now, you’ll be able to see the pets and capture them.
Although they can be captured in all zones, they’re rarely seen across The Azure Span. They are far more common across The Waking Shores and Thaldraszus.
Scruffy Ottuk
Mostly found near water, try50.54.More prominently seen in The Waking Shores.
The Waking Shores and Ohn’ahran Plains.
Thaldraszus and Ohn’ahran Plains.
Tiny Timbertooth
Some sighted along two rivers around15.35, 20.43,and the two rivers on either side ofCamp Nowhere.
Vorquin Runt
Rarely seen in The Azure Span, more common in The Waking Shores.
Whitewhisker
FindNuptuk at 50.54and they’ll give youSnow Glare Glassesthat allow you to seeWhitewhiskersin the area.
Woodbiter Piculet
These tend to be secondary backline pets in battles within The Azure Span.

Blackfeather Nester
At26.46,inside the fallen tree trunk atTraitor’s Rest, you’ll findTree Sap.Further up the tree is a stick. Click this and you’ll be able to interact with thePepper Hammerclose by. Then, you’ll receive yourBlackfeather Nester.
200Polished Pet Charms.
Whiskuk And Backswimmer Timbertooth
Both can be obtained by completing the questCute and Cuddly. Also sold byMurikandJiqfor150 x Dragon Isles Supplies, 5 x Tallstrider Sinew,and1 x Large Sturdy Femur.
Azure Span Quest Battle Pets
Yipper
Location: Go toThree-Falls Lookout (19.23)and pick up the questThe Great ShokharifromZon’Wogi.Kill theGreat Slyvernand the quest giver will reward you with the Yipper pet.
Shiverweb Broodling
You’ll be rewarded with aShiverweb Eggfor completing the questKill the Queen.Pick up the quest fromGrungir Ironspout at 49.64. TheShiverweb Queenis found at47.65.
Azure Span Secret Battle Pets
Snowclaw Cub
For this pet, you’ll need to complete the questA Dryadic RemedyfromThalendrain The Emerald Enclave in Valdrakken. You’ll receive a title,Honourary Dryad, for 24 hours. verify you have1 x Honey Snackand3 x Hornswog Hunk.Then, go to67.18in The Azure Span, and you’ll find aPrimal Bear Cub.Interact with it, and it will eat the snacks and give you the Snowclaw Cub pet.
Thaldraszus Battle Pets
There aren’t many zones as breathtaking as this. Aside from spectacular views and endless ledges to dive off of for dragonriding, this zone is rife with pets.
This pet can be difficult to find, but it has been spotted alongSteelcliff Passage (50.51).
The Waking Shores and The Azure Span.
Polliswog
There are two hotspots within Thaldraszus (37.67and60.30) to find these golden balls of greatness.The Cascades (34.69)are rife with swogs, so it’s definitely your best bet.
Wild Duckling
Can be spotted inValdrakkenaround60.57,just south of the Seat of the Aspects.
The Waking Shores and Ohn’ahran Plains.
Blue Dasher
Can be found littered around the south-west of Thaldraszusbetween 44.84 to 34.64.
Crimsonspine
Magic
Spotted aroundGelikyr Post (50.66)near Tyrhold Reservoir, but are very rare so you may be camping a while!
Can be found amongst the other elementals beneathSerene Dreams Spa at 42.46.
Chestnut
Go to49.62 in Tyrhold Reservoirand click on anacorn. You’ll receive theAcorn buffwhich allows you to interact with theAcorn Harvester. you’re able to find this creature sitting on a rock beside the tree. It’s a little hard to see as it blends in with the rock. Once you interact with it, it will give you the battle pet.
Living Mud Mask
This battle pet is part of a quest line. Start by heading over to theSerene Dreams Spaand killMudgatu (40.45).You’ll receive the dropDerelict Sunglasseswhich gives theDerelict Fashionquest. Hand this in toZeldis (39.48).Then, speak toZeldisand ask for a better reward. He’ll demand to be taken to the VIP area of the spa and is thrown over to the floating island. When he lands, he will appear dead, talk to him and the mud mask will appear. Follow it to the branch behindBarozdormu (38.46).The mud mask will give you a final quest, hand it in toZeldis, and you’ll receive the pet.
Lord Basilton
To receiveLord Basilton,you’ll need to complete a quest chain. Start by speaking withTender Xina at 77.67in The Emerald Enclave. She’ll start the quest line by offering youGarden Variety. Complete this quest chain and you’ll be rewarded Lord Basilton when you complete the final quest,Carry On, Basilton.
Mister Toots
This adorable battle pet is a reward from completing the questSo How Did It Go?This is the final quest in a chain of pet battle-related tasks. To begin, you’ll need to speak withJyhannah. She’s found at10.58insideLittle Scales Daycare. It should be illegal for so much cuteness to exist in one place, by the way. She’ll start the quest chain by offering the questOh Where, Oh where Could He be?Complete the quest chain and you’ll be rewarded with both Mister Toots and Lubbins!
Lubbins
Proto-drakes may be an adversary for much of this expansion, butLubbinsis certainly a friend. This battle pet is a reward from completing the questOh Where, Oh Where Could He Be?This is the first quest in a chain of pet battle-related quests, where you may receive another pet called Mister Toots. To begin, you’ll need to speak withJyhannah. She’s found at10.58insideLittle Scales Daycare. FindInjured Lubbinsbeneath the floating daycare and complete the quest, then he is yours forever. If you complete the whole quest chain, you’ll also receive Mister Toots as the final reward!
Cubbly
To adoptCubbly, you’ll need to find theStrange Bear Cublocated inside a cave atEon’s Fringe (52.83).You’ll need eitherDragon Isles MiningorExpedition Explosivesto clear the cave entrance. Simply interact with the cub once you’re inside and you’ll receive your pet.
Pakak, Valdrakken(43.74)
1 x Braised Bruffalon Brisket, 1 x Riverside Picnic,and3 x Fated Fortune Cookie. These items can all be purchased via the Auction House.
Unatos,58.35.
This pet requiresRenown Level 18with theValdrakken Accordand can be purchased for2 x Primal Bear Spine, 1 x Large Sturdy Femur, 150 x Dragon Isles Supplies.
Bronze Racing Enthusiast
This excited little bronze whelp is a reward for completing all dragonriding races at silver. Who wouldn’t want a fan cheering them on during a dragonriding race?
Mister Muskoxeles
This cutie was a reward from the achievementGood Things Come in Small Packages.You needed2000unique pets to receive Mister Muskoxeles. Shortly after the expansion launch, the pet was removed from the game. He may yet be added back.
Violet Violence
Reward from the achievementWhat Can I Say? They Love Mefor collecting1600unique pets.
Crystalline Mini-Monster
This magic battle pet is a milestone reward for pet tamers that have collected1200unique pets. The achievement isMany More Mini Minions.
Secretive Frogduck
Another milestone reward, this pet is awarded to tamers that have1400unique pets! The achievement isProven Pet Parent.Perfect for those players that love their fluffy, slimy, and sometimes terrifying babies.
Lady Feathersworn
Reward for achievementFamily Battler of the Dragon Isles.Involves completing 10 achievements where you defeat elite pets and trainers in the dragon isles with a full team of level 25 pets.
Alvin the Anvil
Mechanical
This pet can be crafted by blacksmiths (crafting level 50+), but they’ll need to collectPlans: Alvin the Anvil.This item drops fromRohzor Forgesmash, found wandering around theObsidian Citadel (30.60)in The Waking Shores. It has a super low drop chance though, so you’re able to buy the plans from the auction house to save time.P.S. This pet also works as a functional anvil - awesome!
Blaze Spirit
You’ll need anEmpty Soul Cage(crafted by jewelcrafters) and aZapthrottle Soul Inhaler(crafted by engineers). Use these on:

Jeweled Whelplings
To craft the whelpling pets, you’ll need to be ajewelcrafter.
Firstly, one character on your account must reachRenown Level 21with the Dragonscale Expedition. This allows you to unlockJeweled Whelpling Treasure Mapsaccount-wide.
Go to the NPC,Boss Magor (47.82, The Waking Shores)and complete the quest for theOnyx Gem Cluster Map. You’ll then be able to see the location of the cluster marked on your map, inside a cave at(30.47, The Waking Shores). Looting the cluster rewards you withGlimmering Neltharite Cluster.These can be purchased from him on alts if required as the quest can only be completed once per account. They cost3 x Nelthariteand100 x Dragon Isles Supplies.
For the other whelplings, you’ll need to lootDisturbed Dirt, Expedition Scout’s Pack,andMagic-Bound Chests.In these you can find the other maps for gem cluster locations for the required reagents. The drop rates are likely low, so this could take some time.

This little whirlwind was available during theDragonflight pre-patch event. It could be earned from completing a quest, or in exchange forPrimeval Essences. Currently, they are no longer obtainable, but they may yet become tradable as they can be caged!
