The Church of the Eternal Fire has a less-than-stellar reputation, owing to its aggressive efforts to purge the non-humans, the witches, and the heretics. Witchers happen to rank among non-humans, placing Geralt on their list of beings to eradicate. Still, you can help a priest of the Eternal Fire early inThe Witcher 3for coin and the greater good.

The priest needs you to burn some corpses across Velen. Piles of bodies can spread disease and attract necrophages, two things that will make life much worse for the already miserable locals. You would be forgiven for thinking that it is an easy job.
Starting Funeral Pyres
This quest is started by talking to a priest of the Eternal Fire on thewestern road out of Mulbrydale, a town close to the Hanged Man’s tree. The town is likely the first place you pass through after arriving at Velen.
You will have to approach the priest first. He will tell Geralt that there are several mounds of corpses nearby that have been attracting necrophages. Hepromises a reward for burning the bodies, an offer that Geralt is suspicious of but can accept. Doing so will start the quest.
Burning The Corpses
Geralt will have to burnthree corpse pilesspread throughout the immediate area. With how close they are, it is easy tocomplete the quest in a single effortwithout needing to run across the region.
It would be best to useNecrophage Oilthroughout the quests. All enemies will be affected by it.
At each pile, Geralt will be attacked by a group of necrophages. The sitesoutheast of the priestwill have arotfiendand the remaining two have ghouls.
Be careful of the rotfiend; it willexplode when heavily injured.The explosion will likelykill you instantly.Observe it carefully anddodge awayonce itbegins to swell up.
Make sure tointeract with each pile,pouring holy oils on them beforecasting Ignito burn the bodies.
Learning The Truth
There will be asurvivor at the last site you visit.He introduces himself as Titus Gielas and mentions a priest.
You canask him to elaborate.He will claim that the same priest that offered the contract hadbought fisstech from him, a common narcotic. After several sales, the priest tried to have Titus killed, leaving him at the pit where Geralt meets him.
It is possible forTitus to be killed. Make sure to intervene before that happens.
If you dismiss his claims, you will notlearn about the priest’s shady dealings.
Make sure toburn the final corpse pilebefore returning to the priest.
Confronting The Priest
Geralt’s payment will be significantly affected by his knowledge of the priest’s drug purchases.
Geralt does not question the priest
If Geraltnever learns about the fisstechor chooses not to bring it up, he willreceive a small payment.
Geralt accepts the bribe
If Geralt brings up the fisstech but accepts the bribe, he will receive alarger, but still small payment for his silence.
Geralt refuses the bribe
The priest willtry to have Geralt killed.Once you kill him and his men, looting his body will give youa large payment.
In terms of compensation, it is best toconfront the priestas doing soyields the largest payment.Once the meeting with the priest is concluded, the quest will end.
