Wild Heartsis out, and it’s a bit of a mess. The new monster hunting game from EA and Koei Tecmo launched last week with performance issues so bad that players on PC are recommending people wait for at least several patches before giving the game a try. The game currently sits atmostly negative reviews on Steam, with the chief complaints being poor frame rate and washed-out visuals even on high-end gaming rigs.

Developer Omega Force acknowledged the issues evenduring the early access period prior to release, vowing “to improve performance and optimize the game for a wide variety of hardware specs across future updates.” The devs confirmed a CPU bottleneck issue that was holding Wild Hearts back and said that both DLSS and FSR support would be added to further boost the game’s performance.

Those two advanced frame-boosting options aren’t in yesterday’s patch, but the CPU bottleneck is, as well as several other fixes for PC. You cancheck out the patch notes here. Another bug in yesterday’s patch also fixed the “audio stacking” issue thatcould be fixed by swapping Wild Hearts' audio to 7.1/5.1 surround sound. That should no longer be necessary on PC, although console players might still want to give it a try if they’re experiencing poor performance.

Elsewhere in the patch notes, Omega Force said they fixed a rendering issue on the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX as well as an issue on the save/load screen that could corrupt your save data. The team is working on the same fixes above for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which should be deployed sometime next week.

Unfortunately, fansaren’tnoticingmuchof a difference after yesterday’s patch. Some are even reportingthe game runs worse now on PC than it did before. Wild Hearts' issues seem to be larger than a single patch can solve. If you’re interested in giving this feudal Japan-themed monster hunter a try, I’d recommend coming back in a few months. It seems Omega Force is going to need some time to get Wild Hearts into a playable state.
